MedTech BEST 2017-18
MedTech BEST (Business and Entrepreneurial Skills Training) is about taking research into the marketplace (translation). Participants on the course will learn about the skills, evidence, and regulations needed and the challenges likely to be encountered along this pathway.
Teams (mixing undergraduates and postgraduates) need to agree an idea for a technology and for a company formed to commercialise this product concept. This will be a hypothetical but plausible idea, grounded in real science and based on a real clinical need and real markets. Teams will then receive training in building a business and technology case around their idea.
Each team member takes on a “board level” role in their company in order to develop and refine their business case and prepare a pitch to put before a Dragon’s Den-type judging panel. Teams are assisted in this by experienced mentors and receive instruction from industry and sector specialists over the course of MedTech BEST.
